Peace can be more than a word
copyright 2008 Peter Stewart
When a rhyme becomes a poem and a note becomes a song
And that song becomes a melody you can sing your whole life long
And when all the people sing with a sound you’ve never heard
Then Peace can become for than just a word.
When hearts begin to mend and forgiveness starts to flow
And a neighbor becomes a friend and a breeze begins to blow
Then Hope becomes untied and can fly just like a bird
Then Peace can become more than just a word.
When the power of love exceeds the love of power
Then the heart of love will bloom into a flower.
Because the sun is really more than just a single star
And as we become more of who we really are,
Then Peace can become more
More than just a word
Peace will be real
Within our hearts
Within our lives
Peace will more than just a word.

Hello Spring!
|
Dear Josh,
Here is a poem I wrote for you:
What to do with the twinkle in your eye?
When you sing you make me smile
When you smile you make me sing
When we sing together – I turn up my dial
Of joy and, you know- everything.
When you joke you make me laugh
When you are happy, I’m in a great mood
And when we are together – I realize
You are one beautiful dude.
And… this is what I really want to say:
You have such dignity- when you lie in your bed
There is a calmness in your body and a halo ‘round your head
And all the idle chatter that we usually say
Has melted before we say it. It simply falls away.
So now let’s get back to this twinkle
The one in your smiling eyes
I hope one day I’ll catch it
And throw it up into the skies
Way beyond the steeple bells and birds and clouds and sun-
It will become a star itself
And shine down on everyone
And later we will realize
That is not just a star
It is the twinkle in your eye
It’s who you really are
And when we gaze upon it
We will start to sing
And turn our dials of joy way up
And you know, everything.
Love, Peter 4-22-12
My Good Friend Josh went to heaven the next week.
RIP
